Ali couldn’t pick on me…

Ali couldn’t pick on me… …once she sat on my new bed. I work very closely with international business leader, Ali Brown, because I lead her Millionaire Protégé Club. We have a great working relationship and she loves teasing me because I’m a “saver” - not a “spender”. You know how some people LOVE to spend? Well, I’m not one of those. I’m one who LOVES to save money. I delight in getting deals and shaving off expenses. (Which one are you?) Ali’s a spender. I drive a Honda Civic and get my suits at Macy’s. Ali drives a Jaguar and shops at those stores with fancy French names. But when Ali came to visit my wife and I here in Miami Beach, we reversed rolls. Because I just spent $6,000 for a new Flou bed. Planning out the year…

This past weekend my wife and I brought out the flip chart paper into the living room and mapped out both of our businesses for 2010. It was fantastic and I highly recommend you do something similar. Here’s how to do it: Identify your current income streams. Get clear on the income you bring in every month and the total for the year. Identify, in general, what are your total expenses. Figure out the total for the year and monthly average. Separate what your living expenses are and what your business expenses are. (This is for me because I run all my business expenses through my American Express card for the airline miles and all my personal expenses on a separate card – also for airline miles. This is great…but only if you pay off your credit cards in full every month.) Now you know the lay of the land. You know how much, in general, is coming in and how much is going out.
